Colourful Thailand Photography Adventure Tour 11days
Highlight: you’ll be shown many insights into Thailand the average tourist would never see. Colourful local markets, elephants in lush tropical jungle, farmers working the paddy fields, hill tribe people, Buddhist monks, gleaming temples and much, much more…an absolute Mecca for photographers.
arrive in Bangkok and transfer to comfortable hotel located in the heart of the city.
We meet at breakfast in the hotel for a tour briefing and our first photography workshop. We then go to the huge Chatuchak weekend market where photo (and shopping) opportunities abound. Later in the day we will upload our photos and discuss their merits.
A very early start today, we visit the floating markets of Damnoen Saduak. Although many tourists go here this is still an authentic Thai experience and you will learn a lot about the Thai way of life. Once again huge photo opportunities, soak up the wonderful colour and atmosphere as we take a ride down the canals on a longtail boat. Optional visit to MBK huge shopping complex for lunch and shopping in the afternoon before late afternoon photography workshop.
Today we will take a tour to the Grand Palace, a splendid complex of ornate temples including Wat Phra Keow which houses the Emerald Buddha. Once again packed with wonderful photo opportunities, today you will be challenged to capture unique shots. After a late checkout we board the overnight sleeper train to Chiang Mai.
We arrive in Chiang Mai early in the morning and are met by our private bus to take us on to Thailand’s northernmost province of Chiang Rai. stopping on the way for breakfast we tour the amazing White Temple before checking into our resort hotel for an easy afternoon, lazing around the pool or exploring the smal town of Chiang Rai. In the evening our local guide will show us around and we’ll probably eat in the night market where there is a huge selection of great food and free entertainment nightly. If we are in the mood we can try out our night shooting skills.
Today we take a private tour up country to the so called Golden triangle area in the far north of Thailand. Here we will be able to capture images of the mighty Mekong river as we look out over Laos and Burma. Photography workshop late afternoon.
Our private bus will take us back to Chiang Mai stopping on the way to admire (and photograph) the spectacular Queen mother’s botanic gardens. After lunch we visit the majestic Doi Suthep temple, located high on the hill overlooking Chiang Mai. Late afternoon there will be a portrait photography workshop.
An exciting and adventurous day. We take a longtail boat down the river before a trek through the jungle to visit some hilltribes. We ride an elephant and may take a leisurely river trip on a bamboo raft (depending on conditions). Guaranteed to sleep well tonight we may skip the photo session and head into town for some R & R.
Today we have a break from photography and instead brush up our Thai cooking skills. We go to an organic farm where we learn to cook (and eat) some fantastic Thai food.
Our lasl fulll day in Chiang Mai we visit an elephant training camp to see the well-cared for elephants being groomed by their mahouts before showing off their amazing skills. Afternoon at leisure to explore Chiang Mai, we will meet up late afternoon to compare notes on our photography progress before an optional evening out together at a riverside restaurant (not included in price).
On our final day we have a breakfast photography wrap-up before transferring to Chiang Mai airport to return to Bangkok mid-afternoon.
